Carbone en pièces CARBON IN PIECES Work in progress, charcoal sculptures. Variable dimensions, 2022. Pieces of wood charcoal reused as sculpture material. When I carve this material with my electric engraving pen, I never know in advance what meaning I want to give to my shape. Like tiny monolithic architectures, abstract or figurative, my gestures are guided by the roughness, irregularities, veins and other imperfections that the piece of charcoal provides me. By testing the limits of the material, it gives me the opportunity to imagine more sophisticated three-dimensional carbon sculptures.
